Technologies and materials
SOFTSHIELD®
SOFTSHIELD® is a soft, flexible material perfectly suited to outdoor activities thanks to its properties and elasticity. You'll love its reliable water resistance, breathability, and exceptional wind resistance.
FURTHERM®
Breathable thermal insulation fill. Keeps the body warm and comfortable. In extreme weather conditions it accumulates body heat and releases it back later, helping to maintain the required body temperature. It guarantees comfort and convenience in all activities.
SOFTSHIELD® TERATEX® 10000
Functional outdoor material for demanding outdoor activities. Its main advantages are elasticity, thermal insulation, excellent wind resistance and water resistance, together with perfect breathability. The material is a three-layer laminate in which a suitable combination of materials produces a light, soft, elastic softshell with excellent thermal insulation.
POWERFLEECE
Lightweight, highly elastic material, micro-brushed on the inside for increased thermal insulation and comfort. The outside is smooth and very pleasant to the touch, and it offers excellent thermal insulation and protection against gusty wind.
TERATEX® 15000ELP Membrane Core
ELP marked membranes are specifically optimized for female needs of temperature regulation. Durable membrane fabric, which is highly waterproof and breathable. Easily protects against unpredictable weather. Blocks gusty wind from getting through and excels in water repellency. The product from this fabric is suitable for all challenging and extreme sports activities.
Frequently asked questions
What temperatures are women’s autumn and spring jackets suitable for?
Models with a stated warmth rating are rated down to 0 °C or -10 °C on NORDBLANC’s indicative warmth scale. The -10 °C level is mainly reached by quilted transitional jackets with FURTHERM or THERMOLITE® EcoMade T-DOWN insulation, while Nordic sports jackets are usually rated down to 0 °C. In frost or when standing outside for a long time, switch to a winter jacket or add a warm sweatshirt.
Which NORDBLANC women’s autumn and spring jackets are waterproof?
The waterproof ones are the light jackets with a TERATEX® membrane (water column 8,000-15,000 mm, most often 15,000 mm in the TERATEX® 15000 ELP variant) and the softshell jackets and anoraks in SOFTSHIELD® TERATEX® 10000 (10,000 mm). Quilted transitional jackets, sherpa jackets and softshell sweatshirts have no membrane and can take only light rain or a shower. For persistent rain, also look for taped seams and waterproof zips, which only some of the waterproof models have.
What is the difference between a women’s transitional jacket and a Nordic sports jacket?
A transitional jacket is quilted all over and insulated with FURTHERM or THERMOLITE® EcoMade T-DOWN. On NORDBLANC’s indicative warmth scale it is mostly rated down to -10 °C, and it is made for everyday wear. A Nordic sports jacket has an insulated front and back (on some, part of the sleeves too) and stretchy powerfleece or softshell sides and sleeves; it is mostly rated down to 0 °C and is built for cross-country skiing, running and hiking, where movement keeps you warm. For the city and walks, choose the transitional jacket; for sport, the Nordic.
What should I wear under a women’s autumn or spring jacket?
Under a light quilted jacket, a technical long-sleeved T-shirt or a thin sweatshirt is enough. Under a softshell or light waterproof jacket without insulation, add a fleece jacket, and a base layer too when it gets colder. The jackets mostly have a Regular fit, so choose thin layers to keep the jacket from feeling tight.
