How to choose a hat or headband
Hats and headbands differ in how much of your head they cover. The main question is whether you will be standing or moving: when standing in winter, a hat keeps you warmer, while for movement a headband is a better fit, as it protects your ears and lets your head breathe.
Hats
A winter hat covers your whole head and ears, and so keeps you warmest. It suits walks, the city and longer stays outdoors. The range has knitted hats for women, for men and without a gender designation. The base is acrylic, and only some models contain wool or TECNOPOLAR® fleece. The longer you will be standing in frost, the more worthwhile wool or fleece becomes.
Headbands
A headband protects your ears and forehead but leaves the crown free, so you won’t overheat as you move. NORDBLANC headbands come for women and without a gender designation, in acrylic, some with 50% wool and TECNOPOLAR® fleece; one is made of polyester fleece.
Colours
Hats and headbands come in a range of colours, from black, grey and beige to white, wine red, purple, yellow, turquoise, green, blue or pink. Each colour is a separate variant of the model, so you can find the same cut in several shades.

What hats and headbands are made of
- Knitted fabric – most hats and headbands are knitted. Knitwear is stretchy and adapts easily to the shape of your head.
- Acrylic – the main fibre of most hats and headbands. It is light and easy to care for.
- Acrylic with wool – the wool share in hats and headbands is 10 or 50%, and in some models it is merino. Wool keeps you warm even when damp.
- TECNOPOLAR® fleece – a light, softly brushed material that protects against gusts of wind; some hats and headbands have it.
- Blends – some models also contain nylon, elastane or viscose.
- Size – hats and headbands mostly come in one size; one headband comes in S and L.
- Gender – most models are not gender-specific, others are women’s and a few men’s.
How to care for knitted hats
Wash knitted hats by hand or on a gentle cycle according to the label, and wool ones with a wool detergent. After washing, reshape them and let them air-dry flat on a horizontal surface, away from heating and direct sunlight.

Wash the hat by hand or on a gentle cycle according to the label, and a wool one with a wool detergent. Don’t soak it before washing, and don’t squeeze or twist it. After washing, reshape it and let it dry flat on a horizontal surface, away from heating and direct sunlight.
