What you'll find in this category

  • Powerfleece jackets - NORDBLANC men’s powerfleece jackets in stretchy POWERFLEECE with DRYFOR technical fibre, which wicks sweat. Finely brushed inside, they keep you warm without restricting your movement - for running, cross-country skiing, cycling, hiking and every day.
  • Fleece jackets - NORDBLANC men’s fleece jackets - mainly lightweight jackets in soft, finely brushed TECNOPOLAR® fleece as a warm layer under your jacket for the mountains, skiing and cross-country skiing. You’ll also find a jacket in sherpa fleece, which resembles wool.
  • Softshell sweatshirts - NORDBLANC men’s softshell sweatshirts combine the comfort of a sweatshirt with the durability of a jacket: stretchy softshell outside, fleece inside. They are rated down to 0 °C (NORDBLANC’s indicative warmth scale) and only repel water - for dry, cold weather.
  • Cotton sweatshirts - NORDBLANC men’s cotton sweatshirts for every day, in a blend that is mostly cotton (60% cotton, 40% polyester). They are finely brushed inside like fleece, so they feel pleasantly warm - for the city, work and leisure.
  • Shirts - NORDBLANC men’s shirts for leisure, day trips and the city. Soft flannel shirts in 100% cotton can be worn buttoned up or open over a T-shirt, and the cotton shirt in a sturdier fabric with elastane keeps its shape well.

How to choose a men’s sweatshirt for your needs

For sport, you wear a sweatshirt over a technical T-shirt, in winter under a jacket and in the city on its own - it’s a versatile mid-layer. The main deciding factor is the material - choose it according to how much you’ll be moving and what the weather will be like.

For sport and activity in the cold

Powerfleece jackets make up the largest part of the range. POWERFLEECE fabric is polyester with 8-12% elastane: smooth on the outside and finely brushed on the inside, so it keeps you warm without restricting your movement. Sweat is taken care of by DRYFOR technical fibre, which carries it from your skin to the surface of the fabric, where it evaporates quickly. These jackets are suitable for running, cross-country skiing, cycling, hiking and skiing, and thanks to the pleasant fabric, you’ll wear them every day too.

As a warm layer for the mountains and skiing

Lightweight fleece jackets in soft, finely brushed TECNOPOLAR® fleece insulate well and weigh little. Wear them under a winter, ski or outdoor jacket for hiking, skiing and cross-country skiing, or on their own in the city. Most of them have reflective details. In the same subcategory, you’ll also find a warm jacket in sherpa fleece, which feels similar to wool.

For cool days without rain

Softshell sweatshirts sit somewhere between a sweatshirt and a jacket: durable, stretchy softshell with warm fleece on the inside. They are rated down to 0 °C on NORDBLANC’s indicative warmth scale, and all have a classic Regular fit. They aren’t waterproof, though: they have no membrane and only repel water. Wear them as an outer layer in dry cold or as a warm mid-layer; some models have an adjustable drawcord hood.

For everyday wear

Cotton sweatshirts are made of 60% cotton and 40% polyester. The inside is finely brushed like fleece, so the sweatshirt is warm and soft to the touch. They are for everyday wear, for example at the office or at the weekend; they aren’t suitable for sport, because cotton soaks up sweat and dries slowly.

Shirts for the cottage, day trips and the city

Flannel shirts in 100% cotton are made of soft, pleasantly warm flannel and suit the cottage, day trips and the city. Alongside them, there is a cotton shirt with added elastane, whose textured fabric resists abrasion.

Understanding sweatshirt materials

  • POWERFLEECE - a light, very stretchy fabric with a micro-brushed inner side. It insulates well, protects you from gusty wind and doesn’t restrict your movement.
  • TECNOPOLAR® - a 100% polyester fleece with a finely brushed surface: it is warm, light and soft to the touch. Under a jacket, it forms a thin, warm mid-layer.
  • DRYFOR - a technical fibre that absorbs moisture and, thanks to micro-channels on its surface, carries it to the outside of the fabric, where it evaporates.
  • Softshell - a stretchy, durable outer fabric. Without a membrane, as with the softshell sweatshirts, it only repels water and won’t stop persistent rain.
  • Elastane - even a small amount (2-12% in sweatshirts and shirts) makes the fabric stretchy, so the garment fits better and doesn’t restrict your movement.
  • Cotton - soft and pleasant on the skin, but it soaks up moisture and takes a long time to dry. That’s why it belongs in everyday wear; for sport, choose polyester with a technical fibre.

How to wash and dry men’s sweatshirts

Follow the symbols on the care label. Turn technical sweatshirts inside out before washing, close the zips and wash them, usually at 30 °C. Wash fleece, powerfleece and softshell without fabric softener, which clogs the fibres and impairs sweat wicking, and let them dry naturally, not on a radiator. Cotton sweatshirts and flannel shirts can shrink at high temperatures, so don’t tumble-dry them on a high setting.

Technologies and materials

POWERFLEECE

Lightweight, highly elastic material, micro-brushed on the inside for increased thermal insulation and comfort. The outside is smooth and very pleasant to the touch, and it offers excellent thermal insulation and protection against gusty wind.

DRYFOR®

A functional fiber that excellently absorbs body moisture and wicks away sweat. Thanks to the micro-grooves on its surface, moisture is efficiently carried to the outer side of the fabric where it evaporates quickly, keeping your skin dry and comfortable. This property allows the material to provide perfect body temperature regulation.

TECNOPOLAR® fleece

Lightweight, warm, super-fine brushed fabric with a wonderful feel to the touch offers excellent thermal insulation and protection against gusty wind.

SOFTSHIELD®

SOFTSHIELD® is a soft, flexible material perfectly suited to outdoor activities thanks to its properties and elasticity. You'll love its reliable water resistance, breathability, and exceptional wind resistance.

Frequently asked questions

Men’s powerfleece or fleece jacket - what’s the difference?

Powerfleece is stretchier and better suited to sport. NORDBLANC men’s powerfleece jackets are made of polyester with 8-12% elastane, finely brushed on the inside, and have DRYFOR technical fibre that wicks sweat - you’ll appreciate them for running, cross-country skiing, cycling and hiking. Lightweight jackets in soft TECNOPOLAR® fleece are mainly a warm layer under your jacket for the mountains and skiing, and you can wear them in the city too.

Is a men’s softshell sweatshirt waterproof?

No - NORDBLANC men’s softshell sweatshirts have no membrane. The surface repels water, so they can handle a short drizzle, but not persistent rain. They are made for dry, cool days and are rated at the first level of NORDBLANC’s indicative warmth scale, down to 0 °C. When it rains, put a waterproof jacket on over the sweatshirt.

What men’s mid-layer should I wear under a jacket for the mountains and skiing?

One that is light and doesn’t add bulk under the jacket. For the slopes and winter hikes, a lightweight TECNOPOLAR® fleece jacket works well, and if you sweat more when you’re moving, reach for a stretchy powerfleece jacket with DRYFOR technical fibre. A cotton sweatshirt doesn’t belong under a mountain jacket - it holds moisture and chills you in the cold. Wear a technical base layer underneath.

What is a men’s flannel shirt good for?

For leisure, day trips and the city - anywhere you want something warmer than a regular shirt. Flannel is a soft fabric with a brushed surface that feels pleasantly warm; NORDBLANC men’s flannel shirts are made of 100% cotton. At the cottage or on a cooler day, you can also wear the shirt open over a T-shirt or sweatshirt as a light outer layer.
