Technologies and materials
TERATEX® 20000 Membrane Core
Perfect membrane fabric excels in extreme level of waterproofing and breathability. The uncompromising features of the material and durable water repellency protects easily against extreme weather conditions. The intelligent breathability feature offers comfortable heat circulation in any weather. The product made of this fabric is designed for very demanding outdoor activities and all extreme sports activities.
DERMIZAX ®
Dermizax™ is the original Japanese waterproof and breathable fabric technology from Toray and uses decades of experience to manage every part of the construction process. Dermizax™ is a fabric with a highly sophisticated and technical membrane that achieves the highest level of waterproofness, breathability and resistance to condensation. The fabric is stretchable, adaptable and flexible. This makes it ideal for sporting activities that take place in extreme environmental conditions, such as mountain climbing, trail running and winter sports. Whatever sport you choose, Dermizax™ can adapt and protect you from the worst that nature can throw at it while you remain comfortable and in control.
FURTHERM®
Breathable thermal insulation fill. Keeps the body warm and comfortable. In extreme weather conditions it accumulates body heat and releases it back later, helping to maintain the required body temperature. It guarantees comfort and convenience in all activities.
POWERFLEECE
Lightweight, highly elastic material, micro-brushed on the inside for increased thermal insulation and comfort. The outside is smooth and very pleasant to the touch, and it offers excellent thermal insulation and protection against gusty wind.
DRYFOR®
A functional fiber that excellently absorbs body moisture and wicks away sweat. Thanks to the micro-grooves on its surface, moisture is efficiently carried to the outer side of the fabric where it evaporates quickly, keeping your skin dry and comfortable. This property allows the material to provide perfect body temperature regulation.
Frequently asked questions
How do I put together a men’s ski outfit from a jacket and trousers?
Choose the jacket and trousers as a pair with the same protection: a similar water column and the same warmth. NORDBLANC men’s ski clothing has separate jackets and trousers, so you can build the outfit as you like and also wear each piece on its own. Pair a jacket with a DERMIZAX™ membrane (30,000 mm) with trousers with the same membrane, and a TERATEX® 20000 jacket with trousers with a water column of 20,000 mm. A base layer and a mid-layer go underneath.
What features should men’s ski clothing have?
On a jacket, look for a snow skirt, which stops snow getting under the jacket, a ski pass pocket on the sleeve, ventilation zips, and taped seams with waterproof zips. On trousers, detachable braces and inner snow gaiters with anti-slip grip, which pull over the ski boot, are important. Almost all NORDBLANC men’s ski jackets have a snow skirt, and all the trousers have both braces and snow gaiters with anti-slip grip. You will find the exact features on each model’s product page.
Are NORDBLANC men’s ski jackets and trousers waterproof?
Yes, almost all of them. The jackets and trousers have a membrane with a stated water column of 8,000–30,000 mm, and on the NORDBLANC waterproofness scale almost all are rated Highly waterproof or Waterproof. Most also have taped seams and waterproof zips, so water does not seep in there either. The powerfleece jackets and base layers in this category are not waterproof; they go under the jacket as the warm, sweat-wicking layer.
How does men’s ski clothing fit – close or loose?
Almost all NORDBLANC men’s ski jackets and trousers have the classic Regular fit, which leaves enough room for a base layer and a mid-layer underneath. The looser Oversized fit is found only in snowboard anoraks, which pull on over the head. There is no close-fitting Slim fit in men’s ski clothing. Choose the size using the size chart on the product page.
