How to choose men’s swimwear
NORDBLANC men’s swimwear consists of swim shorts, also known as swim trunks. They have a comfortable, looser cut, so you can swim, play beach volleyball and relax by the water all day in them. When choosing, the main things are length, material and how the shorts fit at the waist.
For the water, the beach and sport
Swim shorts aren’t close-fitting racing swimwear, but versatile shorts for recreational swimming in the sea, the pool or the lake. The looser cut doesn’t restrict you during beach volleyball or other light sports.
Short, standard or long?
- Short - shorter legs don’t get in the way in the water or when playing on the beach.
- Standard - a length that suits the water, the beach and holidays; the largest number of models come in this length.
- Long - longer legs cover more of the thighs and are comfortable for a whole day at the beach.
Which material?
The swimwear comes in two materials. Polyester with 7% elastane and DRYFOR technical fibre is light, stretchy and dries quickly; the short and long swim shorts and some of the standard ones are made of it. The other models are made of light nylon, which also dries quickly. Unlike cotton, synthetic fibres don’t soak up as much water, so the shorts dry soon after swimming.
What to look for
- Sewn-in inner shorts - almost all models have them, and they replace underwear. In the polyester shorts, they are made of a soft fabric that doesn’t chafe even when worn all day.
- Drawcord waist - you can tighten the elastic drawcord waist to suit you, and the shorts stay in place even when swimming and playing on the beach.
- Freedom of movement - the comfortable cut doesn’t restrict you in the water or on land, and the polyester models also stretch.
- Size - the swimwear comes in sizes S-XXXL, some models also in XS. Almost all have a size chart with a diagram on the product page; the surest way is to measure a pair of shorts that fit you well, laid flat, and compare them with the chart.
How to care for swimwear
Salt, chlorine and sun take their toll on the fabric over time. After swimming in the sea or a pool, rinse the shorts in clean water, don’t wring them out and let them dry naturally in the shade. Don’t leave wet swimwear rolled up in a bag for long - spread it out to dry as soon as possible. Wash according to the symbols on the care label, usually at a low temperature, without fabric softener or bleach.
Technologies and materials
DRYFOR®
A functional fiber that excellently absorbs body moisture and wicks away sweat. Thanks to the micro-grooves on its surface, moisture is efficiently carried to the outer side of the fabric where it evaporates quickly, keeping your skin dry and comfortable. This property allows the material to provide perfect body temperature regulation.
Frequently asked questions
What length of men’s swim shorts should I choose?
It depends on how you’ll spend your time by the water. Short swim shorts restrict you least when swimming and playing sport, the standard length is versatile, and you’ll appreciate a longer cut if you spend the whole day in your swimwear. NORDBLANC men’s swimwear comes in all three lengths.
Do you wear underwear under men’s swim shorts?
No, underwear doesn’t belong under swim shorts - it would soak up water and take a long time to dry. Almost all NORDBLANC men’s swim shorts have sewn-in inner shorts that follow the shape of the body.
Men’s swim shorts or close-fitting swimwear?
For holidays and the water, swim shorts are more practical - you can play beach volleyball in them and head straight from the beach into town. Close-fitting swimwear creates less drag in the water, so it is chosen mainly by people who swim regularly in a pool. NORDBLANC men’s swimwear consists only of swim shorts, but in three lengths.
