Technologies and materials
FURTHERM®
Breathable thermal insulation fill. Keeps the body warm and comfortable. In extreme weather conditions it accumulates body heat and releases it back later, helping to maintain the required body temperature. It guarantees comfort and convenience in all activities.
TERATEX® 10000 Core
The medium level of NORDBLANC's top-of-the-line fabrics. Waterproof fabric that repels water from the surface of the fabric, while it offers the necessary waterproofness, breathability and wind protection. The product made of this fabric is suitable for everyday sports and everyday use.
POWERFLEECE
Lightweight, highly elastic material, micro-brushed on the inside for increased thermal insulation and comfort. The outside is smooth and very pleasant to the touch, and it offers excellent thermal insulation and protection against gusty wind.
THERMOLITE® ECOMADE T-DOWN
THERMOLITE® EcoMade T-DOWN technology is made from 100% recycled PET bottles. This 500 fill power synthetic insulation offers several advantages over down: higher volume, better moisture resistance, warmer when wet, and dries faster. This technology is also breathable, soft and fluffy, and offers high compressibility (packability) with rapid recovery power.
Frequently asked questions
What temperatures is a men’s winter gilet suitable for?
NORDBLANC men’s winter gilets are mostly rated down to 0 °C, the first level of NORDBLANC’s indicative warmth scale. A gilet only keeps your core warm, so on its own it is best suited to autumn and mild winters when you’re on the move. In freezing weather, combine it with a warm sweatshirt or wear it under a jacket.
Is a men’s gilet waterproof?
It depends on the model. The winter gilets made of TERATEX® 10000 have a membrane and a water column of 10,000 mm and can handle rain and wet snow in everyday wear. The other winter and sports gilets have no membrane and no stated water column; the ultralight sports gilet only repels water. For persistent rain, wear a waterproof jacket over them.
Which men’s gilet is suitable for cross-country skiing, running and cycling?
For cross-country skiing and running, reach for a Nordic gilet. THERMOLITE® insulation at the front keeps you warm and blocks the wind, while stretchy POWERFLEECE panels let your arms and torso move freely. It is rated at the first level of NORDBLANC’s indicative warmth scale (down to 0 °C), and most models have reflective details. For cycling, an unlined ultralight gilet that protects you from wind and light rain is a good choice.
Can a men’s gilet be worn under a jacket?
Yes, a thin insulated gilet is a practical mid-layer. Wear it over a base layer or technical T-shirt under a ski, winter or softshell jacket, and it keeps your core warm without adding bulk in the sleeves. The men’s Nordic sports gilets are specifically designed as a layer under a ski jacket.
